Default going the opposite direction of HP !!!

Hey guys, I noticed that alot of threads are based upon performance and horsepower upgrades, but I never see anything about increasing gas mileage. There have been various threads commenting on headers, cat backs, air intakes etc... as performance enhancing horsepower boosting upgrades, but what I am wondering is this, seeing as i view my 3.4 as more of a economical option to the LT1 what can I do / buy to get the best dang gas mileage possible ? any info at all would be helpful thanks !

btw: 94 3.4camaro 5 speed, K&N chrome air intake. thanks again .

tune up, o2 sensor, making sure you car is mechanically sound (no brakes rubbing, tire inflation, timing, etc)

also, headers, hi flow exhausts will improve you mpg...but with the money you spend on them it's kind of pointless

ya, i didn't know o2 sensors could affect gas mileage ?

oh, and do you know if it is possible to put a 94 3.4 on a diagnostic scope like they do at autozone and such... my car seems to be getting less gas mileage mabye by like 3-5 mpg lately so and i can't explain why its very irritating... any ideas >?

its frustrating because i used to get around 23 mpg and all of a sudden its been getting worse, i know this because im driving the same distance, same style but putting more in the tank, also i did a little math by writing down mileage and dividing the miliege i drove by how many gallons from fill up to fill up so i know mathematically it is being harder on gas... what should i do ?

well...if the SES light is on then you can get it scanned, but you cant get it scanned just b/c your getting poor mpg. Normally, a decrease in miles per gallon is a sign that things are starting to get old/worn and need to be replaced.

I'd give it a tune up (spark plugs and wires) and maybe a new O2. You could also get a bottle of fuel injector cleaner, fuel filter, the list is long of what in theory might make a difference...but i'd start out with a basic tune up/maintainence

In some location winter fuel blend contains ethanol which causes the fuel mileage to go down.
