98 V6 Camaro - So, This has happend a couple times this week. Driving home I noticed the car had a high pitch wining sound coming from the engine/exhaust when driving. Not the normal running sound of my car. I get home and put the car in park and the engine bogs down and idles rough then cuts off when I try to give it gas. I waited a few minutes and started the car. Was fine - but there was the smell of gas/fuel. A month ago I had the Cat converter replaced...funny I had the same symptoms then, but without the smell and whining sound. The mechanic said one ofthe coils could be goin bad and caused my coil to go bad? Could it be the mufler?[/align]

 

Mufflers do not make ignition coils go bad. However, bad mufflerscause the car to run poorly,cause damage to your hearing, and possible asphyxiate you. LOL
