Fuel pump problem 98 camaro 3.8
ok i hooked all the wires back to the pump and nothing...can someone let me know where the prime wire is for the pump so i can direct hot wire it to see if the pump comes on..i looked at the pic for the prime wire on the 95 that someone posted and i dont see that wire. does anyone know where it is on the 98
I never did find a prime wire on my 99. I dont think the catfish have them. As for where power comes from and goes to the FPR has hot lead going to it and the feed into the pump. you could jump the relay leads and feed the pump power taking the computer out of the equasion. With out my schematics in front of me I dont know if the FP recieves it power or its ground from the relay.

ok here is the update...took fuel pump out...tested it with some wires to the battery and fuel pump kicks on...changed fuse and changed relay in the engine compartment for the fuel pump...put the pump back in no change.
ok...i got a test light and got someone to cycle the key while i was testing hot wire running to the pump nothing coming to pump. took wire coming to sender off and tested it..no fire coming to sender...there is some kind of pressure sensor on the sender that i tested and there is a very low voltage coming to it..ok..now is there more than one relay on the 1998 camaro ..i know some ppl have said on the 97 and older that tbere is one by the kick panel but i took mine off and dident see on...someone has said there might be a inline fuse going to the pump..does anyone know of this..and some ppl have said you have to change the pressure sensor to make the pump come on..im so confused can someone please shed some light on this situation...take in consideration the pump did work and car ran for 20 min and i cut it off because the fuel hose popped off on the pump..replaced the fuel hose with a clamp this time and reinstalled now pump wont kick on..go figure
