Default Flowmaster (or any muffler) on a V6

I'm looking into getting an 80 Series Flowmaster or another brand (any ideas/opinions welcome) to put on my 3.8L V6 '01 Camaro...However some people (those that don't own a Camaro) are telling me not to because it won't sound good. What are some of your opinions out there for those of you that have one installed or don't have one installed for that matter...

Thanks

I have magnaflow on my 3.8 02 and IMO it sounds amazing!!! Flowmaster might be a little louder, but that's because it uses baffles. Magnaflow is more "Wide Open" and the increased air flow helps squeeze out a couple more horses. Again, IMO I would go with Magnaflow

Everyone will always tell you your v6 will sound bad with an exhaust but EFFF them as far as Im concerned...If you wanna know how it will sound youtube is your friend, thats how i settled on a SLP LM2 exhaust, but its too damn cold to put it on yet.... Otherwise, are you looking into just a muffler or a whole catback??

I like my Dynomax Super Turbo muffler. Its quieter than all those other brands, but still has a nice true rumble.

So basically it depends on what your preferences are for sound and your budget.

I've got the Flowmaster 80 series catback on my 3.8. It sound pretty damn good up to about 3000 rpms, then it sounds a little bit like a rice burner, but overall I really like it. It needs replaced soon, and I will probably go with Magnaflow, with headers. I'm hoping that will really sound nice. From what I've seen, Magnaflow costs a lot more though. I'd like to hear Magnaflow. Sometimes youtube and stuff doesn't really help you out as far as sound gos, My flowmaster doesn't really sound like the ones on youtube.

i have flowmaster 80 series on my 3.8. I get compliments all the time on how it sounds specially when you first start it, or the car is still cold. After it warms up it still sounds good to about 3500 rmp then it starts sounding ricer-ish.... But I'm pretty pleased with it. i have SS dressing all over my v6 so no one ever questions LOL ....

mine has the flowmaster 40 series on it i bought used with pipes and tips for 50 bucks....same deal as with the other folks with FM, sounds great at start up ona cold day but get on the gas and it gets raspy and blehhh. i've heard that magnaflow is a good choice... whenever you hear people talk about power gains though, try to tune it out...you might get a few horses out of exhaust alone, but if you dont have other supporting mods like cai, it won't give you the "10-15" quoted by manufacturers. get exhaust for the sound, get a v8 or power adder for horses. good luck with your search!
