Default exhaust question

So my car has dual exhuast, not "true duals" and the passenger side pipe is rotting where the pipe meets the muffler. The pipe is connected well enough that it won't fall off, but it rotates and drags on the ground so i have it ghetto rigged with metal strapping. Anyway, is this something worth getting fixed, or should i get a new system? Also, what kind of shop would fix it? Thanks in advance for help!

Well as for whether you should get a new system, thats completely your choice. If you like the sound and all the piping is in good shape, just take it to a local muffler or welding shop and have em run a bead around it where its loose. Most shops will only charge a minimal fee if anything for something small.

What kind of exhaust do you have now?? It might be worth getting just a nicer muffler and having it welded in place of your old muffler. You don't need new piping to get a better sound lol. And what greg said is true. You can take your car to any muffler shop of body shop and they can weld it for a very minimal fee if anything at all.

I'm 99.99999% sure they will not be doing it for free

ok, my piping is mostly in good condition, so I will probably just get it welded. I dont know the brand of exhuast because i bought the car with it, but i think its a flowmaster from listening to youtube vids

Local place charged me $50 and i talked him down from $70. Nobody would do it for cheaper, but then again mine was to add about 4" of pipe and then two welds. Check your local auto parts store to see if they have something to patch. I would try to patch or just cut and add pipe with clamps. Dont let anybody tell you that clamps are not as good because if done right its just as good.

I will sya its not guaranteed they will weld it for free but its worth a stop in to ask. I had a rattle from the stock clamp that was so worn in front of the cat. I was gonna get a new clamp from the parts store but I swung in my local muffler shop. They ran a bead around the loose pipe and tacked up a new hanger on one of my sagging pipes for free. Ive had similar instances before and it was like $10. Its worth a shot if theres a shop around you. Also as carnage said some clamps and if needed some piping from the parts store is also just as good an option.
