engine noise, now won't start
Drove to work this morning everything was fine, driving home from work my 3.8 v6 automatic makes this noise and now won't start. Please help with ideas or advice, I hope to God it's just the starter. See Dropbox link below to video.

Pull the dip stick and wipe it on a clean dark rag. I am going to guess you are going to see some tiny metal.
Video can be tuff compared to standing next to a car but I would assume you are going to need a motor. A guess would be spun rod bearing possibility a piston skirt/pin.

So my battery needed to be charged and my starter was toast, however with a freshly charged battery and new starter the engine noise remains and it will not start, still not throwing any codes.
I can turn the crank a complete revolution by hand with a 20" long ratchet at the harmonic balancer pulley, however it stiffens up for about 10-15 degrees of rotation but will still turn. I drained the oil and have found small metal filings (see photo attached). Next I will remove the oil pan to get a better look.
Any input, feedback or advice anyone can provide will be a huge help. I just bought the car a few weeks ago from a one owner very well maintained elderly couple in NC. The car is very clean and when it ran it ran well, smooth, pulled strong, did not burn oil and the engine ran very quiet. Its a 2002 Camaro convertible 3.8L V6 automatic with 145k miles.
My cell phone is 864-518-4512, or email brandon@bwporter.com, if someone has experience they can share.
Thanks in advance.
