engine keeps dying
Any help would be greatly appreciated!!! I was driving down the street and my car just died all the sudden. When I try to start it back up it sometimes starts but dies after 3-5sec. or it will stay started and when I try to accelerate it jerks like im out of gas and then dies. I replaced the fuel filter and it started up with no problems and I drove it maybe 150ft and it died again doing the same thing like before. Is it the timing-- maybe jumped time or fuel pump but I think the fuel pump works I can hear it when i turn the key. my camaro has 71000miles on it. any thoughts
well just found out it was my fuel pump. Took it to a mechanic shop and he confirmed it. I found a fuel pump on autozone for 373.00 but the mechanic told me they are no good and that 2-3months down the road id have to come back and replace it cause it would go bad. He said from the dealer it would be 700.00 but he could get it for like 570.00 and at 80.00 per hour for labor for 5 hours 400.00. so 1000.00+ for it to be fixed does this sound right, or can I get it cheaper and if i did get my pump from autozone will i have to replace it again soon or will it work and be good
dude i buy parts from autozone and advanced all the time i havent ever heard anyone say anything like that you will probably hand him the cash he will go down get the autozone one and pocket the rest is what it sounds like to me bro plus buy book might be able to do yourself . . dont know how hard one is on a camaro but i know my f150 wasnt bad . .. just my opinion
It sounds like that mechanic is trying to rip you off. If AutoZone made faulty fuel pumps I'm sure that they would be aware of it. I recently helped my dad put a fuel pump on a C3 and it use to use a carb. That wasn't too difficult, so I'm sure that you could easily replace one.
yeah i found an acdelco fuel pump for 280 bucks and I think im going to do it myself I heard you can cut a hole through the hump behind your back seat and get to your fuel pump that way, it sounds alot easier, then i could make a hinged door and if i need to replace it again later bam! there you go. The only thing is I dont know where to cut the hole and how big of a hole to cut any one have any pics or ideas on the exact spot
