is it possible that a 1996 camaro with the one cup holder and rear latch center consol lid be switched with a 1997 camaro center consol, im wondering because i like the center consol in the 1997 camaros, they have 4 cup holders and a sideways opening center consol compartment, the only thing im worried about is if it will fit right in my 1996 camaro, i know the cigarette lighter is in a different place, but it looks like the shift stick is in the right spot, any help would be nice, because im thinking about buying it for $100 from some guy off craigslist, just want to make sure it fits pretty good

 

The newer console will fit just fine, but there will be about a four-inch gap between the top of the console and the bottom of the dash. On the older console, that's where that cubby hole is. Personally, that gaping hole would drive me nuts, but if you won't mind it, go ahead.

 

That gaping hole could be filled with something. Like gauges.

 

I'm pretty sure that hole would drive me nuts, too... but I can only imagine. Has anyone here performed this conversion? And if so, do you have photos of what it looks like?
