Talking 1996 Camaro V6 Coversion to V8

Okay guys, I used to hang around here a LONG tme ago. Some may remember me, some may not.

Anyway, back then I was working on my sons 1996 Camaro. He's had it for two summers now, and well, he's done what all 16 year olds do when daddy hands them a car. He pretty much beat the pour V6 motor into oblivion.

So, now its time to upgrade. (hehehehe) Whats involved in converting this V6 car to a V8 car? Any suggestions?

Dont' flame me, but I'm really a Ford guy, so be gentle with me. I'm not as smart as you Chevy guys.

Am I talking pretty much a straight engine swap and the computer or am I dreaming to think its that easy????

honestly, the easiest and cheapest way is to sell the 6 and buy a z.

why would that be cheaper? Because of the mods I'd have to make to do it????

I can get my hands on a 1996 roll over Z that is totalled. So I have all the parts available.

so if u have a z then u can do it. the car will not be worth as much because of the change but there value is not way up there anyways. cost is still gona be around 3k depending on the rebuild for the v8. if u have the 3.8 then u can get some good hp out of em. musicman has a really nice build goin on his. gorn is right, if u want good info on a rebuild for the 6 start another thread. alot of the guys will not open one with a opener like this.

Do a search and as said before by a V8 car. Converting over to the V8 from a V6 4th gen is not worth the money since you will have to all most buy a V8 car to finish the conversion.
