Blown Head Gasket???
Timing cover gasket and water pump have nothing to do with intake or head gaskets. They are not even in the same place in the engine. Where is antifreeze leaking? It could just be the water pump and not the timing cover. The timing cover is a real pain to take off and get at. Make sure the timing cover is leaking before you get into taking it off. It's another 2 to 3 hours of work to take the timing cover off after you get the water pump off.
Yeah I know. I had the car pressure tested and it is for sure the timing cover gasket. So that has to be fixed. The reason I THOUGHT the head gasket blew is because I had to drive the car at 250 degrees for a couple miles to get it home and after that it ran rough. But the timing cover is the first thing I'm going to fix since it's not running rough now
When I bought my 94 the previous owner had experienced overheating problems. A shop replaced the coolant pump and did the timing cover gasket at the same time. Apparently that gasket is a weak point on these engines. In his case the real problem was damage to the front bumper cover that allowed part of it to drop down and block airflow into the radiator. When the coolant pump job didn't fix the overheating problem the owner just kept driving it despite overheating. Then the head gasket blew and the head cracked!
