97 RS slave cylinder bad. Questions
Hi,
I couldn't find any great links on how to start this project. When we bought the car the guy said it needed a slave cylinder. Anyway to test that? Or do I have to just drop the transmission. Any help would be appreciated from those who know. I'm more old school, but a car is a car, just another puzzle.
Or any info as to links I could read would help too.

Lets start with, what is the symptom? The slave cylinder and throw out bearing are one parts on this cars.
If the issue is no hydraulic pressure it will be tuff to pin point but there is a strong argument to replace the whole hydraulic system at 20 years anyway since any failure will be a tow job. The only way I know to be sure its the slave is leakage from that area. Are you loosing clutch fluid?
A bad pressure plate can act just like a failed salve cylinder. Tear down is really the only option to be sure.

Sorry about the late response, I did download the service manual, holy crap that's like looking in a hay stack for a needle . Thank You!
Second, the symptoms are when I depress the clutch pedal it just goes to the floor. It doesn't feel like it engages anything. When we bought it the Previous owner did get the clutch to work for test drive, but when we picked it up the pedal was limp. I never noticed any fluid leaking but I will start digging into that this weekend.
