Alright guys so I just bought the RS and noticed the temperature gauge only reads 160 degrees, is this the normal temp. or should it run a little hotter to heat the heads up some more? Also are you guys running synthetic oil in your 38's. Do you guys know of anyplace where you can get new/used parts whether on this site or on the web just for the 'maro?

 

Our 3.8's run between the 1/4 mark and 1/2 mark on the temp. Could your thermo be stuck open? Has someone replaced the stock with a lower temp thermo?

I have put synthetic in all 3 of our 3.8's.

For parts, I usually use the local Advance Auto, Autozone or NAPA. But recently I have noticed that alot of stuff they don't have in the stores unless you come in and order it,pay, and pick it up the next day,even smaller items..

 

Sorry osduck, I meant for restoration parts. Mine runs just below the 1/4 mark for the temperature, I thought it was running a little on the cool side. Looks like I'll be replacing the thermostat. Thanks

 

It could also be the engine temperature sensor. If the new thermo doesn't fix the problem check the sensor.
