You have the 3.1L, correct?

First and foremost, I would check to see if there is an aftermarket for the 3.1L. I personally haven't heard of much out there regarding the 3.1L.

Aside from that, what are you looking for? Handling? Acceleration? I would start off with an exhaust, intake (if you can find one), upgraded chip, maybe a larger throttlebody, shift kit (if automatic), and gears. Being as it is probably the 3.1L, I believe they have about 160 hp, so even AFTER these mods, it's not going to be blistering quick, but it will surely be noticeably QUICKER. Hell, you might even want to look into supercharging or a turbo setup. With the mods listed above, and a supercharger/turbo setup, you may be able to hit around 300-325 hp.

Even if you want to go faster, your car can be much more enjoyable just by upgrading other necessities like the suspension system. While it's fun to drive in a straight line, I PERSONALLY find it much more rewarding to get into a car and carve up the back roads. Hell, even a Saturn can be fun on back roads with the right suspension mods.

Honestly, I don't think a 3.4L would be a significant improvement over what he has now. I don't think there's any type of market whatsoever for the 3.4L. I mean, I guess it's possible that there is, but it won't be very big.
