if the car isn't too radical expect about 14-16 m.p.g. as far as improvement keep it tuned up and a good air filter, i wouldn't expect more then 16 m.p.g and thats with a light foot . good luck

You might be able to get reasonable gas mileage if you tune the car up really well. I don't know if it'll make much of a difference with a 1977 Camaro, but I had a 1971 that had a stock Quadrajet on it that probably got about 11 mpg, and after I replaced it with a Holley, I was probably getting about 15 mpg.
You may want to try a better-than-factory carb, new plugs/wires, etc. Just because of the year of the car though, it's not going to be overly super with gas mileage though. Keep in mind that while gas mileage was better in the late 70s than in the early 70s, it still wasn't all that great.

My buddies 79 berlinetta is getting 20 to 25 mpg with a mild built 350 and TH350 stock. Heres what we did, after building the motor on $250 budget, we tossed out the new holly (loaner from my brother) caus it was to touchy replaced it with and old Q jet, didnt touch the 230K mile tranny, and swaped in an L6 camaro rear end with 2.54's in it. now it's faster and gets better milage than my 79 4spd Z. If you have a TH350 or better the best way to get milage is rear end gears. It's easier than swaping in an overdrive trans. You can swap the rear end in less than an hour or regear and bearing your existing housing in 3 to 5 hours.
