Default 3.4 V6 Performance

Hey all. I have a 1995 V6 Camaro with 158000km (98750 miles) and I'm looking for some better performace out of the car. What can I do without spending alot of money?
I have a Cold Air Intake and the cat was gutted out.

1. Would getting a high-flow cat give me better back pressure and performance?
2. I have Bosch platinum plugs & wires that were put on 1000km ago. (Bought the car with them). Would AC Delco plugs & wires give me better performance?
3. Would a dual output flowmaster or Magnaflow muffler give me better performance, or should I just go cat-back?
4. I seafoamed the car, got a new serpintine belt, cleaned out the IAC motor, changed the fuel filter, and got a new PCV valve too. What else should I clean or tune-up?

I know getting headers, a cat-back dual exhaust are the way to go, but it doesn't fit the budget this year.

your best bet is just to save your money at this point.High flow cat will just be a waste of money, especially if your cat is gutted, unless youre worried about passing emissions.

no matter what u do, its going to be hard to get a descent amount of performance out of a 3.4. save up your money and get a v8. ive heard about ppl that have put an intake, headers, and exhaust on a 3.4 and have still lost to minivans lol

Thanks guys. I haven't lost to a minivan, lol! The V6 is pretty fast. It's a 5-speed and I can chirp the tires in 2nd gear. I may take off the TB and polish it, but besides that there's not much else I can do. I don't have to worry about emissions here (yet) so the gutted cat will stay for now.

I would get the headers and exhaust, since your budget is tight, headers first, then do the exhaust as soon as you can. The magnaflow systems are very popular, not cheap, but they sound decent and are high quality. If you aren't worried about sound, I would recommend a Texas speed and performance "rumbler" like I have. It's very free flowing, but drones and is loud as hell. It's built for a V8, so your local exhaust shop would have to adapt it to fit. For the 3.4, I would also recommend a "top swap". The 3.4's have an edge over us 3.8 guys since there's high flowing aluminum heads laying all over in wrecking yards that bolt on. Cuts out some weight also.

For info on the top swap, other performance upgrades, email this guy, he sells them, builds them, is and always will be the 60* guru. http://www.60inclusive.com/

Thanks Pacific_L36. Now the question is do I get stainless or ceramic headers? I'll probably go for stainless. As for a cat-back there are alot of options out there. I'm not a big fan of Magnaflow. Seen too many installs with very little increase in performance. If i'm going to do a cat-back then I'll go Borla. Won't be super-loud but it's better performance.

Ther head swap is a pretty good idea. Now, I wonder what aluminum heads will fit? 3400, 3100? I'll check out the site too and see what I can come up with.

Stainless? Are you reffering to the CIA headers? For a budget build, I would get pacesetters in ceramic. They're cheap, and do the job ok. Don't get the painted PS headers, I learned that the hard way. They don't last very long, and look fugly as hell after you run them.

For the head swap, email the guy in that site I posted. He'll tell you all about it, what you need, what gains you'll get, etc. I could post some basic info, but you're much better off e-mailing him instead. Tell him musicman on ftv6 sent you.
