Hello new to the site need some help with 2000 camaro v6 my son has. He installed front wheel drive engine into his camaro he has change most everything you mentioned in your forum. his problem is it wont idle after warmed up,it dont throw no codes and if you disconnect maf sensor it runs good. he has replaced it twice thinking cheap one was bad.any information would be helpful. thank you S/T

 

The engine has two operating states, open loop and closed loop. When cold it works in open loop and ignores most sensors, when hot it work in closed loop and uses all sensors. The reason it works with the MAF disconnected is because the disconnect forces it back into open loop. There is nothing wrong with the MAF. Most likely something has been omitted in the swap. Connect a scanner and see if any codes are set, and check freeze frame data.

 

Thanks for the information. He did it all by himself so its possible that he missed something. I just guessed it would throw a code but what you said may have explained that . Im still learning this computer crap little. I'll have to go look it over and see if I see anything.thank you s/t
