What's wrong with this Pic......
and what do I need to do to fix it?
Ever since I bought this car it has acted like it was in park and reverse at the same time when I started the car.
Well today after doing some other work I took it for a spin and when I got back home and put it in park it went into full reverse, will not go into park at all.
Crawling under the car I found a hose clamp attached to the trans linkage, pretty sure that doesn't belong there.
Also, probably unrelated, while out on my drive I got on it pretty hard and when it shifted from 1st to 2nd I thought the trans was going to knock a hole in the floorboard. Shifted really hard and felt like something jumped under the car. Looks like everything is in tack but I'm sure something is moving that shouldn't be. What do I need to look for?

You are right that is a hose clamp. I'm guessing that the po broke the ears off that held the cable in the bracket so that's what he came up with. Ex father in law warned me that he wasn't no mechanic.
After figuring out what was going on I did manage to get it adjusted to where I have park now so I am making progress.

Appears shifter cable is broken and OE design retainer (#4) is missing.
Never mind, I misread the title, thinking 68-69 console shift, rather than 93-02.

Well obviously someone put the hose clamp on the cable to keep it in place.
So my question is how is the cable suppose to be held in the bracket? Is there some kind of clip? Maybe ears on the housing to hold it in place?
Just asking so I won't be buying parts that I don't really need.

By the way, the mount on the trans seems solid but there is defiantly something moving around and making a big "thump" when airing it out and shifting from 1st to 2nd. Something else I need to be looking at?

When you say it looks real solid how did you test it? You better hope its the trans mount because EVERYTHING else that can cause a "thump" while shift 1-2 is going to get real expensive. Like new/rebuilt transmission expensive.
