Default Transmission Swap

Hello Everyone,

I am new to the forums here and have been trying to find out if I can interchange two different Transmissions. I have a 1996 Camaro RS with the 3.8L v6, I am have a replacement engine installed and plan to replace the trans as well. I have a buddy that I work with who has a fully rebuilt 4L60E out of a 2003 Blazer 2WD with torque converter and will sell it to me for a good price, so my question is this, Can I put an '03 Blazer 2WD 4L60E into my 96 Camaro? I understand that I may have to change the bell housing.
Thanks in advance!

no it is not a direct fit. a good trans guy could probly make one good one from both but it would probly cost as much as a rebuild.

Bell housing bolt pattern is different and you can't just change the bell housing, it's part of the entire case.

His has a removable bell housing. GM started making the 4L60E removable in 1996 with the trucks, then across the (V8) fleet starting in 1998.
The V6 version remained a one piece case, so finding a 3.8 bell housing would be more than difficult.
