not all 4l60 trans will fry with the converter not locking. dang it, well i think its 93 and newer but not sure, i am sure that i can unplug mine (93 4l60) so the converter does not lock and it wont hurt the trans or converter. it will run a little warmer but not to the point of damaging anything.

ok so i got the transgo kit along with a drain plug and a corvette servo all for 110$ then tomorrow ill get a trans should have the parts by the end of the week... if all goes well i should have the car going by next week... lets hope i dont run into some more bs

For all that trouble, your better off completely overhauling your original trans. You'll keep the value of the vehicle with the original trans. Why would you go thru all that if you have your original trans? Modifying is never the way to go if you have the original trans to rebuild. Jmho.

I recently had this very conversation with a highly recommended local trans builder. I eventually want an overdrive in my 69, and happen to have a couple laying around on the couch.
"Absolutely have the t.c setup to lock" were his words. It has to do with how the stock t.c. slips more than a normal (non-locking) one, and how fluid is routed, or not, when it's locked/unlocked.
