From what I have seen on my car, it was originally an RS, but someone ripped everything off of the outside that made it an RS, except for those two side pieces for the 3-piece spoiler. I did notice those holes, they're on the sides as well where the ground effects used to be. Sad. If I get some extra time, and I can find them, I will put a body kit back on it. I don't have the center RS piece anymore, but I like the sport wing the way it is. Mine is the only one I've seen with it so I like having that uniqueness to it.

My friends who have PDS/Halo/AirWrap/AF'd cars leave them parked on the street. You can wax Halo, AF and some other types. Keeps the junk off of them. That's why liquid wraps are functional, they are resistant to the elements and are easier to keep clean than automotive paint. They don't scratch near as easy and prevent other small damage like swirl marks and pebble dents. You can take a dipped car through an automated car wash with those huge brushes and it'll come out just fine. People do it all the time. I've taken my dipped Accord through the touchless ones many times, and I can get right up against the body panels with a pressure sprayer at a DIY wash; it has zero effect on it as far as peeling or blasting the dip off.

As long as you keep them clean and don't have a fluorescent color, liquid wrap won't fade in the sun or start to peel up like a wrap might (though a good wrap shouldn't do that either). If you do it correctly a liquid wrap should never bubble, lift or peel.

You can get your door jambs and interior panels dipped as well. Some places just charge a little more for door jambs, and in some areas you have to change the color of the car on your registration if you do them.

I've seen plenty of people dip their valve covers and other engine bay parts. Regular PDS can handle up to 200-210 degrees F if I remember correctly, so most regular cars would have zero trouble with that.

on the 98-02 there not an rs .thats why you hear me say sport appearance package ,only year for rs were 96 to 97.they had a full ground kit there are like half . theres realy is no center piece if you look at 98-02 that have them its 2 side pieces in front ,I put rs badges on my 99 ,but tech its not ,to me is not as bad as putting ss without ls engine ,people don't relize though ,even an ss is just for looks there is no proof ram air works till about 500 mph ,cold air intake is another BS thing no proof it works 1 hp for $250.00 ,its just a waste ,ram air is just attractive ,a 98 ss does not go any faster then a 98 z28 ,right from owners on other forums, ram air puts some extra air in the box ,but does not ram air into the engine ,an its just a little ,now that I know that I feel a guy can do what ever he wants ,I am going to have z28 badging an ss on my 95 ,only couse of the hood though, now I can see why some put just what they want on a car ,like some have turbo ,but not real turbo to each there own again .some guys think is moraly wrong to put ss on v6 with an ss hood ,but now that I know ram air is just an attraction ,does not bother me,now some guys will say yes the ss tail fin allows air to flow better again that's all ,I found all this information yesterday, was looking up what the hood insulation is for,an ram air hoods ,some say protects paint ,its for fires an sound only ,an for fires only to drop on an mabey smother it not for protecting paint ,5 out 10 cars don't even have them,so wont be putting my back from the 95 on ,an I could not find one anyways for 98_02

"The 2001-2002 RS package is identified by the RPO code Y3B"

So what you're saying is, someone must have taken every single appearance piece including a dual exhaust (unless the base model came with it too?), put it on this car, then took it all off again later? Based on the leftover side spoiler pieces that came from an RS, the dual exhaust that had one pipe cut off, the holes drilled into the sides and bumper to hold the ground effects on, etc.?

If all that's true, the people who owned this car before me are morons.

Anyway, since the holes are already there I guess I should put something there, even if it's not the stock RS stuff. It just looks weird.

i think 00-02 all had dual outlets. it would not be uncommon to take them off after one is damaged although i would fill the holes. from the sounds of it they were not the sharpest tool in the shed.

Nope...there was just a hole. I feel really stupid for not checking this car more thoroughly, but seriously, this idiot mechanic lied to me when I thought I could trust him...I guess from now on I'll only trust what I can see. My dad is keeping me updated with photos and telling me what they're doing to my car at the dealership.

I went ahead and ordered this drive shaft off of eBay:

I asked the seller if it would be a direct replacement, and they confirmed this, so if I get it and it doesn't fit, I can get my money back at least. Dad and I are going to install it when it arrives, and hopefully that'll be the end of my drive shaft woes.

they were an option they costed $1550.00 for 98-02 yes y3b I call it sap, some ss cars may have been the norm but most was option ,so should I get sap badge or rs one hehehe ,but yes they make the ones that leave out the middle piece couse that's the part of the car that bottoms out most the rest is the same ,you can get that kit you want at rk sport ebay, the others just has 5 pieces 2 for the front corners ,as for the wraps ,my research said touchless car wash only ,the brushes could be very dangerous ,when you concider they say all that is needed to take it off is to get an edge peeled an pull it off I had one of those bruch car washes take my licence plate right off so I would think guys that use them are playing with fire I keep so much wax on my car I wash it like 2 times a year if that an don't drive on dirt road so its allways clean other then dust ,mabey ,that an the gasaline thing seems pretty on point ,an for the kit $1550 seems about right when you concider paint an install
