It's just regular black silicone. Most gasket sets come with a little tube of it. Permatex is what you'd be looking at it. Comes in a black tube that says gasket sealer on it.

Not for the intake, no. Only gaskets that are reusable usually are the valve cover gaskets and exhaust gaskets if they're dead soft aluminum. Anything else should be replaced when taken apart.

 

I think the intake manifold gaskets are aluminum as well

 

That's a new one for me. I've only seen them as a rubber-fiber with the occasional special rubber around the ports to help seal better. Just from what I know others have done, I would replace them. I know a few who haven't that had trouble later on down the road and others that have gotten away with it. If it were me, I'd just spend the 20 or so bucks to get new one's.

 

you can get a set of all the gaskets you will even need for the top end for ~$50 from rockauto....well that was for a 3.4 gasket set

 

I've already picked up most of the gaskets along the way. I assumed I would need new intake manifold gaskets, but when I removed the old ones, I wasn't so sure. I'll post pictures of them tomorrow.

 

keep your eyes open for a big tap and die set or chaser set. after powder coating you need to thread chase them out using tap or better yet thread chaser.

 

I'm assuming because of the powdery stuff getting in the threads?

 

yep any powder coating in there is going to jam the threads and its a good idea to chase threads on aluminum if they look like there gettting the aluminum powder/corrosion in the threads, also if there was thread lock used before.
