Plastic dash rattle
#21
Mine didn't have a crack either, until my dumbass buddy gently rested his foot on my dash and CRACK
As for the passenger seat rattle its mostly likely the handle underneath the seat. The plastic on the tip starts to come loose and makes rattling noises especially on the freeway and yeah, it's annoying as hell. I pulled the plastic forward, wrapped some electrical tape around the metal bar, jammed the plastic right back on it and shut that sucker up for good.

Hi Guys, I know this thread has been around a while, but Im sure theres others with this problem. Other cars have this problem as well. I come from the Corvette world so no one knows squeeks & rattles better than me. I had an 89, 92 ZR-1, 93 40th, 94 covertible and 2 2002 Z06's. The 02's are prone to the rocking seat issue. If you go on Corvette Forum, you can find the fix for that.
Now on squeeks.... Heres how I dealt with them on my C4 Vettes. Assuming the parts arent cracked where the mounting screws are.... I would disassemble parts and where they mount put a small piece of felt cloth. Another thing that works is where two pieces of plastic or vynal meet, apply a thin layer of vasoline where the felt might be too thick. Someone mentioned 3M adhesive tape which is also a great idea that works. I found using different materials in different spots works best.
If the parts are cracked at the monting screws, you can use epoxy and larger washers to help. Also using very thin aluminum as a brace held in place with rivets works well. It takes some dilligence tracking down some of these squeeks and rattles and some creative inginuity to get them to stop!

This month I'm going to spend all my weekends taking apart the dash and other panels. I have some bead sealer from a tire I was working on and saw that this stuff thickens up, dries and sticks to everything. I'm going to mask off parts will be seen and only coat the plastic parts that will be touching other parts. I'm debating if I will do felt where the screws go. The rod on the door lock I will coat except for where it connects to the lock. I am doing this part before the dynamat so that I can get rid of the squeaks before I get rid of the rattles. The can was only $12. What do you guys think? Has anyone done this before? I put this on the back side of my speakers and where the speakers touch the door and so far no movement or rattling there. My car doesn't have a huge sound system but it's a old car.
