LT 1 6spd take off rattle
I'm a newbie to the forum & to Camaros. I bought a '95 LT 1 6 spd Z 28 with 80K on. It has a rattle on take off in the bellhousing / trannie area. It only happens on take off in first gear, and goes away above 15mph. I was wondering if anyone else had encountered this problem. or any thoughts on it?
The car is in Florida, and I have found out that it runs hot 230+F in stop & go traffic, I realize the fan specs are 226 & 235F but this isn't reassuring when you're waiting for it to boil over ( it hasn't yet ! ) Should I be worried?, should I wire a manual switch for the fans ? Any suggestions ? Thanks Alan

If it a 6 speed which I think it is. It most likely is 1st gear chatter. If it is a new or fairly new clutch it may do this for a while. Especially if it is a aftermarket performance clutch. Say a stage 3 or stage 4 clutch for example. If it is you have nothing to really worry about. Its OK. If you do have an auto it could be anything from a loose transmission mount, failing torque converter, to a bad synchro. Hope this helps.
On the running hot thing wiring a fan switch might help the problem but your cooling system could use a good flushing and probably a new thermostat.

Yes it is a 6 spd, but the rattle is a metallic one, it sounds like it could be a trannie bearing but it goes away above 15mph, so it can't be. A trannie guy I know said it could be a loose spring in the clutch plate but who knows ? Thought someone else may have experienced the same rattle.
Re temp it runs fine on hwy @ 185F ........................... Thanks Alan
