Default Window Wiring

I have had issues with my passenger side window motor... but recently, the window decided to go down and not up. So i took the door apart and just put it back up manually. I have been told that i might just have a bad switch, which would make sense, do you know any way to test it? I have tried taking the one from the drivers side, but it still wont work... it only goes down. I even replaced the motor (under warranty from a previous purchase thank goodness). I have also heard that the window motors were incorrectly wired from the factory and to extend the life of the window motors, they should be rewired with the correct voltage running to them. Any input would be great. thanks
