So my 86 came factory with manual windows and i wanted to convert them to power. I bought the OEM window harness and added power door locks as well. I also soldered the power wire for the windows into the factory designated power window fuse position, in the fuse box under the dash. Everything was working fine for a while, but now the windows dont work. For some reason when i hit either switch, the battery light comes on and a relay under the dash clicks. Also sometimes the choke light comes on as well when the button is pressed.

Not sure how the windows are interfering with the choke, as i have it connected into the window fuse in the box. Also, if i connect the power wire for the window harness directly to 12 volts, the windows work fine. Not sure whats going as everything was working great.

 

maybe the relay is shorting out
