Default Who knows anything about wiring subwoofers.

I bought a sub box with subs along with a amp for my camaro. I will need to buy a deck along with a wiring kit for the subs. I will Include a picture of what they look like. But I am wondering how to find out what type of guage wiring I will need. If you have any tips about how to wire subs that would also be nice. They are two ten Inch JL audio subwoofers. You can use the high input on the amp and pick off the factory speakers. But I don't recommend this. I replaced all my factory speakers and put a pioneer cd player in. Then I wired up my sub and amp. I went to walmart and bought a 200 watt kit which comes with everything you will need. I'm running a 600 watt system. Seems to be ok, I would recommend bigger wires if your amp is bigger than mine though.

4 gauge power and ground wire is a safe bet. I recommend Stinger wiring kits. You can get one fairly cheap from sonicelectronix.com.

Wait I am confused you even replaced the factory speakers In the car. How did you find ones that were made to fit. How can I even know what wires I need because I dont have any specs on the amp. As far as what watt etc.

Ok first off you don't need a sub wiring kit. You need an amp wiring kit. If the amp is 2000 watts or less, you can use a 4 gauge wiring kit. If you bought everything together, then I'm sure the subs are rated to go with that amp. Look at the amp and see how many watts it is. In most cases, you'll be safe with a 4 gauge wiring kit.

As far as hooking up the subs, that's a different ball park. They'll be hooked up directly to the amplifier. It depends on if the subs are 2, 4, or 8 ohms. Typically they will be 4ohm. Also it depends on if the subs are single or dual voice coil.

Thank you for helping me. I posted this on another forum. A guy said that I should get 10 ga for the speakers and probably 8 gauge for the power. Idk. Another thing Is people were saying these are speakers I thought they were subs. Wtf.
