Default VATS Issue, Car Not Starting

I have an issue with my car not starting, most likely due to GM VATS. Car's a 1994 Chevrolet Camaro V6. The car was running fine, but my battery was draining rapidly due to part of the security system. It was a black box with a key (long lost before I even got the car), and located beneath the driver's side dash. It chirped and blinked incessantly. Really annoying... After I removed this, I found the car would not start. The starter will not click. All the lights turned on, but didn't dim when I turned the key in the ignition.

I figured it was a loose wire, so I traced all of the wires back from the starter and they look pretty good. I noticed that the security system relay in the relay box was bypassed by an earlier owner, so it's most likely due to what I did with the black box beneath the wheel. I also measured the voltage across the battery and the battery's fine.

Next, I tried locating the TDM. I removed the glovebox and radio and looked to where I thought it would be located. There was no TDM, so I couldn't use a NewRockies module to bypass the entire VATS. I also tried the resistor trick (even thought the relay was gone, I did it just in case), but this also didn't work. So now I'm completely baffled by this car and have no vehicle. Any thoughts?

sounds like you had an aftermarket alarm. are you sure you got all the wires back where they needed to be. gotta take all the alarm system out and redo all the wiring. did you do a search on the box to findo out what brand and model it is. look for numbers an name

I removed everything I could find that connected to the security system. I also traced back as many wires as I could and don't see anything. It looks like whoever bypassed the relay soldered on many different wires, so the colors change, making it really difficult to know for sure when it moves from under the hood to under the dash. The box had absolutely no brand name on it other than Medeco, which was on the keyhole. It looks like Medeco only makes high security locks, not anti-theft systems. I figured it was inactive because it didn't need a key to start and the relay was bypassed. Guess not.

Also, I did see the VATS module, though that one is MUCH cheaper.... Kind of mad I didn't find it until now. I paid a small fortune for the NewRockies, ~$300. Problem is, there's no TDM in the car for me to hook it up to.

This one here: PERMANENTLY Disable and Remove GM Security Systems
