I started leaving the key in the ignition. It has started fine. Today it began acting up again. After sitting for 5 minutes I hit the top of the steering column and the car started. While I was sitting I was telling a co worker what it was doing and he said that the other day another co worker had the same problem. He has a HHR. I also noticed that when the key is in the ignition and the door is open the ding you hear when key is in igntion starts and stops when you wiggle the key tumbler.

 

im gona say its in the lock cylinder or the two wires that come out of it.
