Default 1985 Z28 trys to turn over after I turn it off.

I bought a Z28 recently, and now the in addition to the oil pressure being off the charts, it shudders after I turn it off, like for a good 5 to 10 seconds, as if it's trying to turn back on? Any advice would be great.

Thanks,

-Dennis

You have engine run-on, also referred to as "dieseling". First, check your ignition timing: Setting Your Timing. Being out of time one direction or another (more often retarded) can make the engine run too hot and can cause carboned up areas on the pistons or heads to glow, which will ignite the gas even after the engine is "shut off".
