The tranny should not overheat at that speed. im doing daily 110mph on my way to college and i have no heat problems. u should really change the tranny fluid.

 

livelihood of the motor would and does depend on the maintenance and treatment of the car and motor. 200k is common for the 4th gen.

 

So if it was properly maintained and continues to be it should last a while. Good. Also so am i hearing yay or nay on Trans fluid change?

 

I say yay if the color or smell tells you it needs a change. On two recent cars with 700R4's, I've even had all the fluid transfused with no issues later. However, one of them looked like it was maintained regularly, the other one's interval was questionable. The complete system took 11.2 qts., a pan drop & fill only changes about 5 qts.

 

I say yay change it. And I don't think your car is going to last that long if you say you drive it hard ALL the time. Most stock cars aren't made for constant abuse. Driving your car hard puts alotta extra stress on alotta parts.

 

Hard as in one full throttle 0-100 or so drop per drive and lots of high rotation interstate driving and drifting, so much crappy drifting

 

Is it also a good idea to exchange transmission fluid in automatics? I've notices some rough shifting after the car warms up a little. Or is it a bad idea to do it? I recently hit 100k on my car.

If the trans has been maintained regularly (scheduled changes), then you have much less of a chance of something going south after a fluid change. In your case, I would drop the pan and just change that much. Then you can also change the filter, who knows if it's ever been changed. That will also give you an opportunity to see if there is anything in the pan that doesn't belong (clutch fragments, etc.). Does your trans shift hard into all the gears, or just for the 1-2 shift? Have you had your computer scanned for any transmission error codes, even though your check engine light may not be on?
