Default tranmission problem i think?

i just put my 96 3.8 motor back into my car. i didn't put any fluid in it yet and i was tighten up the tires and the car was rolling in park.....i didn't remove the tranny from the motor all i did was change the tranny gasket and filter while it was out.....could it be the shift line is off? also i bought 5 quarts of dex/merc fluid just want to make sure its the right kind...it is making a weird clicking noise too while i move it

If you don't have any fluid then there's no hydraulic pressure in the tranny. It's possible the shift linkage cable slipped off and something you should check. Clickong means that park can't engage properly. You also took your engine out too so you need to turn the car over to get compression back into the engine which also helps the car from moving in park. Put the fluid back and turn the car over and see if the issue is still there. Dexron III is the correct fluid.

sounds like its not going into park completely. unhook the shift arm at the trany and see if it will click a bit farther in. may have knocked the adjustment off a tad.
