Is it really harmful to go from RP to Mobil One synthetic? I used RP last oil change but just bought a big jug of Mobil One I was going to use on thenext oil change....

RE: Time to change my oil
No, you shouldn't have any problems switching from RP to Mobil 1 Full Synthetic. They're both good quality synthetics, all you're doing is switching between brands.
Excellent point. My last oil change I got a 5qt jug of Mobil 1 5w-30 and a Mobil 1 oil filter for $30 from Wal-Mart, thinking of getting some oil before the sale ends, even then its like $22 normal price.
Original: The Corvette Doctor
If you watch the sales, you can find the Mobil 1 with filter for $30 or less. Watch for the sales, buy it and let it sit in your garage. It won't go bad.

Just a thought; walk around the paddockon any race weekendand ask the drivers what they're using. More often than not you'll hear Redline or Mobil1, with Royal Purple and Amsoil also used on occasion. Only one of those is reasonably priced (relatively speaking), and that's what I use in both my street and track cars. Oh, and IMO if you change your oil regularly any quality filter (Pure One, Mobil1, Wix, K&N, even AC Delco) should be just fine. I use OEM Nissan filters in my race car, and I haven't had any oil-related problems to date.
