Default Reverse Lights Turn on with headlights

So I got a 95 Camaro about 3 days ago, the 5 speed 3.4l V6, and for some reason, the reverse lights do not come on when I throw it in reverse, but instead, stay on when I turn my headlights on. Has anyone had this happen or have any ideas on what may be causing it?

Also, have the reading lights on the rearview that get stuck on no matter what way I have them switched. the only way to turn them off is to precariously balance the switch in the middle of on and off (Or take out the fuse). I believe It's the door switch thinking the doors open but I was wondering if anyone had this happen and has a more solid answer for me. Thanks!

The backup lights should have no wiring that is connected to the light switch, so unless the wiring harness had been modified, the switch should not be able to effect the operation of the backup lights. Check to make sure the socket with a light green wire is positioned correctly in the taillight housing or if the wiring has been spliced.

You don't mention which switch you have to place midway between "ON and OFF" to get the reading light to go off. If it's the switch on the mirror, chances are that switch is bad and the mirror will have to be replaced. If the door switches were the problem, none of the other courtesy lights would operate when the doors were opened. The drawing below is for a coupe but is similar to a convertible by substituting the courtesy lights for the dome light used on a coupe.

Going to sound dumb but did someone add a trailer hitch? That wiring always cause all kinds of tail light issues. Also a bad ground can allow power to back feed into any wire that shares the ground.

There wasn't a trailer hitch attached when I bought it, but I'm gonna look around the car when I get a chance, and If I find out what's up I'll post again.
