You can not make it even. You need a machine shop for that. All you can do is clean it. Also sand paper as it wears gives off a fine dust that will destroy your motor over time.

Use scotch bright. You can use the hvy Brown on the Cast iron block. Burgundy or Gray is best for the intake and and heads.
