Oh man that's fishy. And if you look at the page info on that ebay item, the seller linked it to here. Is somebody really selling one like this and is just too lazy or unresourseful to take their own picture, or is it a scam? I'd have "words" with that guy.

why?

you posted the information and photos within the public domain

nothing had a valid copyright nor does Camaroforums make any representation of privacy of your postings and IP protection. You post within the public domain of your own free will.

and no, it wasn't me who did the post on Ebay

You DO NOT have to have a copyright bug on your photograph for it to be copywritten. Your "work" is automatically protected under the copyright law.
This is something that most people don't realize, and think they can "steal" any picture they want just because it's out on public display.

U.S. Copyright Act
"Images may be described in various manners. Under the U.S. Copyright Act, images of various sorts are called “pictorial, graphic, and sculptural works”. These works are defined to “include two-dimensional and three-dimensional works of fine, graphic, and applied art, photographs, prints and art reproductions, maps, globes, charts, diagrams, models, and technical drawings, including architectural plans.” So illustrations, photographs, charts and the like, are all protected by copyright.
The full range of rights attach to owners of these works. The owner of copyright has the exclusive rights to do and to authorize the reproduction of the images, prepare new works based on the original works, distribute copies to the public by sale or other transfer of ownership, or by rental, lease, or lending; and to display the works in public".
This guy on ebay is using a picture of someone else's concept/product, to sell his own product for profit. There's legal merit here.

nope, it was put on the public domain

also, the ebayer is not seeking to profit from the photos themselves but from a product represented in the photos

the ebayer also posted this- "file picture i learned this from online"

If that were not the case, then every photo placed on this site would need to be verified as authentic and that the poster has the right to place the pictures here. The owner of the site profits from advertisers because visitors come here for the content with the site which is open and public IP (intellectual property)

If any copywritten content such as published service manuals, owners guides, photographs etc are posted here then the site owner risks a lawsuit for allowing it to be here.

That is why you will never ever see T.I.G. scan a page from a manual and post it here.

I will post answers in text or even photographs I myself take. If i want to use a photo from another site, then i post a link.

Do I really think sites like this would be monitored; no. But, i won't put the owner at risk

I've been in 2 IP lawsuits and thankfully it's getting better with respect to judges understanding. The first was in the 90's and it was a joke. The judge did not see how we were damaged.

OK, its not that big of a deal guys. There's already one guy on LS1tech been shut down for using my how to and pics on something else I did and claiming it as his own. Its just nice if they say, hey I'm going to use your pics, no harm done.
Also would you like to be buying/bidding on that item pictured on eBay only to get something complete different or nothing at all.

heres what the seller said

Dear jbody02,

Nice work thank u helped me fix my dash. Not taking any credit I will change the pic just want to make the money back on one I bought and broke. With out you I would have been lost. I never said that it was my idea. I have my own pics was just easier to use thatone at the time. Like I said I will change it.
