Default Recovered Dash Finished (pics)

Good pics were tough to get but my wonderful wife did her best. My dash was broken upon me removing it to try to repair the oil gauge. It was broken into 5 pieces. I fiber glassed the pieces back together from the bottom side. Then I used Bondo body filler to help smooth the seperations on top. Finally after looking at others projects here on the forum, I did what they did and used the 3M spray adhesive. It worked well and the trick was letting the glue dry to a certain extent on both surfaces. I used a little duct tape to help keep everything in place on the bottom side of course. I was also able to do the defrost grill a little differently by cutting between the grill sections and gluing the flaps on the underside. Overall, I think it came out well and the grey colored vinyl went nicely with my black/grey colored interior. What do you guys think of it?

I had the fiber glass repair kit and 3M adhesive in my "stuff stash" already. The bondo was 10 bucks and the vinyl was 23 bucks. Total investment about $35.00

Nice work. I'm hoping to have mine next week. I'm basically doing the same thing. How did you finish the edges? Just wrap the vinyl around and glue it down?

Hey, that looks pretty good. Vinyl wrap is better than that sea of plastic that the dash normally is. Covering it "just because" is reason enough.

Yes. Left about 1 1/4" all around the border and used a piece of duct tape om each "ear" that was glued down.

Thanks everyone else for the kind words. Most of the time digi pics look better on the computer, but this actually looks just like it does in person as it does in the pics.

That came out great! Just how GM should have done it in the first place.
