Rebuild or Sell 02
Long Story short TLDR;car Oil was overfilled by 2ish quarts and blew out the pistons, its only that as far as I know? Its a 2002 Chevy Camaro v6
I have have a budget of around 1,000$ to spend if I want to rebuild it or sell it. I really dont wanna give it up but if need be if it becomes a hassle lemme know. Thank you!

low miles 3.8 are plentiful in most areas. i picked up a good series3 3.8 with 60k an great compression for 400 bucks. https://camaroforums.com/forum/93-02...-change-80747/

Blowing out a piston is not the normal failure mode for over filled oil. I watched car drive up to the dealership with 12 quarts of oil in it and it was smoking out of everything. There was no damage to metal hard parts but I am sure some of the seal where less than happy. The key was the fact he had only driven it a mile. His comment was, “there is something wrong, I already put a whole case of oil in it and it is still not full” Yes he was "filling" the engine with oil.
Engine damage normally occurs in an over filled engine because the crank whips the oil into a foam. Once the oil pickup starts sucking foam you lose oil pressure since the foam cannot be compressed. You end up wiping out all the bearings. Once the oiling stopped working the piston could overheat and seize up but at that point the engine was already beyond a cost effective repair. The reason I am telling you this is because to repair this engine would be insanely expensive.
If the rest of the car is in nice shape then follow what Craby said. Craby has a build thread and I have my project 96 thread (see my signature below). Keep in mind you can buy a running driving car for about 2k and you can scrap/part out yours for $500ish. I put about $2500 in my project 96 (including the price of the car). I put 100,000 miles on it then sold it for $800 7 years later. 3800 FTW.

12 quarts wow that guy most not have ever did an oil change or read directions for anything ever ,thats funny though
,you would have thought the starter would not turn over
i thought it was bad ,one time i did a water pump on an 87 t bird had 5 bolts i broke one bolt off inside was the offset one,an had nothing to drill it out back then ,an put it on with with alot of extra silicone in the hole an it held for the 3 more years i had it ,then sold it ,told the guy said he did not care would fix it,$500.00 car days now are $2000.00 now
