Default Power steering problem

A few months ago I noticed a leak at the side hose that goes to the cooler a while back and I bought a new hose and clamps. Power steering was making noise so I took the filler cap off and there was a ton of pressure. Thats why its blowing off the side hose. What is causing this?

Sorry I cannot help but I can let you know this is not a normal or in any way common failure. I am very curious on how this can even happen.

The power steering reservoir is sealed to keep out moisture but it should not be able to build pressure. It is a closed system. To build pressure in the reservoir you need to add something to it. Since all fluids come from the reservoir there should be no way to build pressure in it.

Simple Concept: you have two pints of steering fluid in your reservoir, the only way to increase pressure to have more than 2 pints, where did the addition fluid come from?

A change of temperature (the car getting hot) will cause the air in the system to expand and ever the fluid will expand slightly but that pressure would be nowhere near enough to cause an issue since it has been happening since the car was new.

Maybe the pump is failing and getting super hot and causing fluid to boil?
