I want to be able to cut all the power on and be ready to start without tripping the fuel pump.

Wouldn't that essentially give the same result? If he should kill power to the pump, the injectors quit squirting due to lack of pressure and the engine kills. He wouldn't be evacuating the fuel system by doing that.

I would never purposefully run my engine dry, isn't that what ruins injectors?
I was always told that

It takes very high fuel pressure (from the fuel pump) to push gas through the needle fine orifices of a fuel injector. Kill the pump, the injectors quit squirting, and the engine quits. How does that run the engine dry? Frankly though, I don't see the purpose of what you're trying to achieve. Is it for added security, or maybe to make yourself feel like a jet pilot?

Correct, starve a engine for fuel to shut it down then just pull a plug. It will have a white haze to it and and it will spike the cylinder temps right before it shuts down, that is a real bad time to spike a temp. The problem is it takes a second or two for the pressure to drop off completely because the pump is spinning so fast. Even at 1200 RPMs each cylinder will fire 10 times per second. The last thing any motors needs is 20 lean fires right before shut down. It can be very hard on the head gaskets.
