Did you oil up the gasket before installing the new filter, so that it wouldn't drag or snag?

If your car has the factory oil cooler, make sure the large nut holding the cooler in place is good and tight, otherwise you will see oil seeping from over the top of the cooler, and run down on the filter.

Yeah, I filled the filter with oil and lubed the gasket. Top of the line fram. Think I got a head gasket blown so i guess its not a big deal at the moment.

I don't know if their quality has improved, but I stopped using Fram years ago, and now actually use the Wal Mart SuperTech filters, without issue in both my Camaros...

yeah I agree. Frams are garbage now. Have been for years. Mobil 1 filters are good and as liberty said.. Walmart SuperTechs are just as good.. they are the same filter as mobil 1 just with a different label.

I don't use Fram anymore either, but I never really had a problem with them. The logical solution would be to change the filter.
