Unhappy NEW fuel pump and filter...still dies...HELP!

Hello all. so I have a 96 RS. Bought it 9 months ago. 3 months ago had to change the fuel pump. got it from dealership to ensure lasting power, also changed the filter (same time). car runs like a champ until it sat for 6 weeks while I was down from surgery. get back in it and it starts right up but chokes a lil when low on fuel. so assuming that I had clogged injectors, I put seafoam in it and filled the tank. now it will run but a few times now while sitting in idle (at a light) it dies and won't restart. tow it home, sits overnight, starts right back up. please help! also tank looks clean from the top. new plugs as well. could it be regulator??

If you ran low on fuel you should change the filter. It sounds like you are assuming it is the fuel pump? Any reason to assume it is the pump? Fuel pressure test while it will not start will tell you for sure.

^^^ and have it scanned for trouble codes. look over your wiring to make sure something didn't get in the engine compartment and chew things up.

You might siphon out the tank and put in fresh fuel, can't hurt.
Seafoam may have settled to the bottom during the sit.

Is it overheating? My 93 would run fine untill I got into traffic or hit some lights then it would overheat and die. let it sit for a while and it would start right back up and run fine.

No I don't think its the fuel pump, it turns on everytime I turn the key. no it isn't overheating. I put the seafoam in AFTER the month and a half of sitting. it has a half a tank of fuel (still w/seafoam In it now. it did choke thru some nasty gas cuz it had a burning off exhaust for a few minutes but while in idle if I'm not pushing on the gas pedal it seems it is clogging up somewhere. I've heard could be regulator...o2 sensor, filter... just start w/filter and wait? scared to drive it to parts store to run codes lol. still starts everytime.

Ignition or fuel. If you give the car enough time, can you get it to kill while in the driveway? Then you could check for spark or fuel. When it doesn't restart, shoot some starting fluid down the throat of the t.b. If it still doesn't start, you have an ignition problem. If it does, it's fuel supply, or lack thereof.

If tank is half full, add more fuel to dilute Seafoam.

Starting normally but stalling after warm brings a few ideas to mind.
1) dirty EGR valve allowing excess exhaust into intake
2) dirty throttle body
3) engine coolant sensor providing bad data to ECM.

Is the air cleaner stock?
