Default New to the forum/rear end problems

Hi guy's it sure is nice to have these forums to find heplful people to help with the problem soving. I'm a pretty good with the hands on sovling, but I have (excuse me, my wife) 97 Z28 and after 3 days of sitting the rear end ( at least that is as far as i can tell) is making this funny sound, kinda like grabbing and clunking, but only under a load. It has in the past made a poping sound every once and a while, i just thought the posi was releasing or something. Well i dident want to start tearing into it untill i have a full understanding of the posi. I have never had a posi rearend in anything. I know that it is hard to diganose with poping and clunking, but i was hoping that someone else has had this problem and know what it is.... Thanks guy's....

Ring and pinion is gone. Common problem. I had the same problem and changed my rearend. You can just have your ring and pinion replaced

Before tearing out the gears, try adding a can of GM posi additive to the gear oil. The posi can make some awful sounds if the additive is not used.
