Default New rear end ABS light problems

I had my auburn 3.23 unit go out on my 96 RS a while back. We installed a 01 torsen unit with 3.42 gears and got the correct, no traction control version.

I think the issue is the gears, but I want to be sure so I know what to do. When I drive forward or backward and go over 5-10mph, the ABS light comes on and stays on until I turn off the car and go to drive again. This happens every time, no matter what.

Is this just because the gearing in the rear is different than what the computer thinks? Does it just think my rear wheels are going "faster" than the front wheels because of the gear change, and it doesn't know what to do? Or did my ABS sensor become damaged during install? I don't have an ABS scanner nor do I know anyone with one, and I would like to avoid taking it to a shop and getting charged to scan it unless there is no other way to figure out the problem.

When you changed rears, did the new one have the same number of sensors as the old one? Some have a sensor on each wheel, others have a sensor by the differential. If it had a single sensor, did you check the reluctor wheel for damage? Rear end ratio makes no difference.

Yes the rear end was from an 01 without traction control, so there is one ABS sensor in the pumpkin just like my 96 RS. When I purchased the rear end it was opened and drained so we could look it over, and we spun it a few times to check everything. The reluctor wheel fine, it had all of its teeth and everything.

Now is it pretty much down to the ABS sensor? My mechanic did note that it had a different style connector compared to my 96's wire harness, but still only had one sensor, so we put the one out of the auburn in it and it fit just fine. Could this be an issue?

Thanks for the help!

Could be, but you won't know for sure until you scan with an ABS scanner and see what the complaint is about.
