Default Key wont turn...

I am having issues with the key turning..... For a while it was just taking some muscle to turn the key... but just today i turned it and almost feels like the internals there broke or something. I turn the key and the ignition lights work and the radio comes on and everything, but it wont crank the motor.... This isnt a huge thing since tomorrow or Monday I will be installing a push button start, but I was just curious if you know where I can get another ignition key lock mechanism thingy. Thanks...

are you sure the shaft in the column isnt jaming or the switch itself may be failing not letting it go.

It might be the column. I am not sure how the assembly works inside the column. But I did replace the tumbler and that did nothing for the problem. I still turn the key and get the power, but it doesnt send power to the starter. I am thinking about just putting in a push button start and send power directly to the starter.... and just use the key to unlock the steering wheel and power all the electronics.

We have a 96 that has its moments of not allowing us to get the key out after we turn it off. Leave it in there overnight and just walk out and pull out the key. Can't figure that one out either. Seems like it happens more frequently when the temps outside are cold.
