Default Intermittent no start, 1993 3.4

This problem has been plaguing us for two years.

Broke down and replaced fuel pump, still intermittent no start. By-passed chip on key, still intermittent no start. Mechanic says to replace PASS Passive Anti-theft Security System (module left of glove box) but no GM no longer makes part.

Suggestions???

What exactly happens when it doesn't start? Do you hear your fuel pump prime? Does your motor crank? Need more info to help diagnose what is happening here.

Starter has always turned motor fine.

Had fuel pump replaced - experienced another no-start. By-passed chip on ignition key - then experienced latest no-start.

When the motor will not start I have kneeled down near the LR wheel to listen for pump and did not hear anything during priming.

Had car towed to garage that replaced pump, by-passed chip. First time he tried to start car - it would not start. Second time he tried to start the car (a day or two later) - it did start . . . and has started every time since.

He feels it is the PASS Passive Anti-theft Security System (or module) located left of the glove box. GM no longer makes this module :-/

Any advice is welcome!

Default Already by-passed chip on key

Thank you for the above link. We've already by-passed the chip on the key.

sounds like it could be a ignition modual. gota go fishin, look through my attachements here, should be a no start trouble chart for a 3.4 in it.

I had a similar problem where I was driving home and the car quit. Underneath the dead pedal there is a relay for your fuel pump. Make sure that has a good connection. That was my problem and was a cheap fix.
