my 95 camaro recently decided not to switch over and start so i took apart the dash and everything got to the switch and now i cannot pull the black cord/wire out of the bottom of the switch. i can get it to come out a little but not all the way. anybody have any help here? the cord is stuck on the black part in the picture above.

you just have to tug on it, i did mine myself last month. It snaps in and is held in pretty tight, to just pull on it and it will come out.

yeah you have to tug on it really hard, just give it some tension slowly and it will come out, dont just keep tuggin on it with all your might or it could break.good luck.

you shouldnt have to put the car in neutral, its not controlled at all by the trans, it should just pull off.

okay my initial problem was the car wouldnt start when i turned the key but it would turn on the vents, and radio, but not the dash, and it wouldnt try to turn the car over at all just made a click when i went to start the car. maybe its possible the ignition lock is the problem and not the switch? this is the only conclusion i can come to because this wire is not comming out. i tried putting the key in every position, without the key.
