Default Help. Passenger orange door lock slide

Just got done replacing a speaker in the passenger door and I noticed my orange door lock slide button came off. I got the door panel back on and now I can not get the door lock slide to engage on the rod. I took the driver door apart and looked at that one and the rod going in to it from behind was shaped differently then the passenger. Maybe I broke something on the passenger side???? Basically the end of the rod on the passenger side just comes out and straight and points out at me. I do not see how to have that engage the orange plastic piece correctly. Am I missing something here? Please tell me I do not have to take the door panel back off. That is a major pain in the *** to put on. Any help is appreciated. Thanks.

Maybe this will help. You shouldn't have to remove the door panel.

Got it figured out. It was not broke just bent. I had to straighten it out to get it to properly align horizontally. What a pain in the but. Putting the door panel on for some reason was a "major" pain in the but. All of this because I had to replace the passenger door speaker. I was going to replace the driver door speaker as well so they would be matching but after all of this work forget it. Old rule applies, "If it isn't broke, don't fix it". Sound is great now in the car with no blown speaker.
