Default HELP!! 95' v6 starts right up then dies a few seconds after.

1995 camaro 3.4 v6 with auto trans. Car starts perfectly then dies a few seconds later. I have decent fuel pressure of 38psi. Fuel pump seems to work fine and so does the fuel pump relay. Gas tank isn't rusted and the fuel filter is brand new. The catalytic converter is not clogged. My vats system is working fine and my computer isn't throwing any codes. Any advice will be much appreciated.

If you are sure you have fuel pressure the next step is to figure out what you are loosing. Spark or or injector pulse.

Spark testers and injector noids are available at most parts stores and are super cheap at Harbor Freight if you have one around. You need to be careful how you check for injector pulse. Some voltmeters and all tests light will draw more current then the injector and can fire your PCM.

With spark you want the spark tester because it will load the secondary system to the proper resistance. If you just hold the plus wire near a ground it can show spark but not be able to fire a plug.

agree with gorn, check for spark at the plugs and see if your computer is telling your injectors to send fuel. is your security light on, do you have a aftermarket theft system.

Default 95 camaro s

I replaced the spark plug wires in my 95 camaro that was stalling as soon as it starts. It started then ran just fine. Could the spark plug wires have been the problem? I thought at most they would just cause it to run poorly.

my lt1 plugs got so bad it wouldnt start at all. changed plugs and it is good for at least 10k. changed it to coil per plug set up and it seems to be working a bit better. the last set has been going for a while now. must be 15k. iridium ngk though so not cheap. so you changed wires too?

I bought the car and drove it 30 minutes to my house. The next day all my problems started when I changed the spark plugs. Could i have damaged the plug wires by pulling them too hard? I changed the wires a week later and it seemed to fix my problem completely. Could bad or damaged wires cause it to stall like that?

i would say yes, if its not on all the way the spark can eat away at the connection untill its not close enough to carry the spark. i have had a coil wire do it as well. a break will do the same.

i had the same problem a few years ago...it was the fuel pump relay. the one located under the trim foot rest. when it got hot it would shut off the fuel pump.
