I'm installing new heater hoses but do not have access to the old heater hose assembly. I'm just installing new hoses. But a question about hose sizes.

Does the water pump 3/4" hose go to the 3/4" heater core fitting and the 5/8" water pump hose go the the 5/8" heater core fitting?
OR
Does the water pump 3/4" hose go to the 5/8" heater core fitting and the 5/8" water pump hose go the the 3/4" heater core fitting?

In other words, Water pump to heater core - (3/4 to 3/4 and 5/8 to 5/8) or (3/4 to 5/8 and 5/8 to 3/4) ????

I've been told both ways at the parts store and I don't know if anyone at them are really sure.

Any help is appreciated. Thanks in advance.

PS The heater hoses in these cars are a pain in the ***.

 

inlet is the small one outlet is the big one.

 

I had to have the car towed almost 30 miles and now it sits in my driveway. I have no idea where to find the replacement part and it's been discontiued. I'm desperate. PLEASE HELP!!!! TIA

You should be able to buy just the rubber hoses if that is what is leaking. Otherwise, Hawks has a complete reproduction hose assembly available. Here's a link, for both the V6 or V8 engine options.
