gets up to temp then will not turn off

Default gets up to temp then will not turn off

New to forum hot out searched could not find answer , I have a 1999 3.8 camero which when gets hot it will not turn off , runs without missing , with ignition switch turned off, so I replaced ignition switch , still does same thing .

hay billy welcome to the forum. this is a strange one. moved your post and created a thread for you. do you have any aftermarket electronic stuff hooked up, stereo amps or other gagets, maybe a alarm.

Default Solution Engine running after turning off solution

As stated I had replaced ignition switch, with same result, after scratching my head and having a good look under hood , I found that the serpentine belt had come off in past and stripped several sensor wires loose . I found one going to engine cooling fan that was attached to the abs/ign fuse .
The problem would worsen when engine was hot , I rewired cooling fan and the problem has not returned. Did this for a friend.
Left new ignition switch installed , wasn't worth removing and installing old one !

lol, yep with it got up to temp the fan was told to go on but instead put power to the ignition. good find looking things over.
